Working together, Pierson Grant Public Relations and High Impact Digital devised an online “Tools for Teachers” initiative that would do just that: deliver school supplies to teachers who needed them most.

Objective:

Create an online contest engaging teachers who could win up to $2500 in free school supplies. The premise was simple: Teachers were to describe in under 400 words or less why their classroom should win free school supplies. 

Strategies and tactics:

  • Identify and target a niche audience
  • Reach out to bloggers, generating buzz and back links
  • Support online strategies with traditional media coverage
  • Create optimized press releases for maximum impact
  • Employ viral tactics to word of mouth marketing

Results:

Educators heard our call to action and responded to the tune of 837 submissions, with over 500 submitted during the first 14 days. The message spread virally and garnered a couple of hundred tweets, in addition to the widespread local and online coverage by mainstream press and desired links to the Catalogs.com website.
